STORY & PHOTOS
In addition to its historical significance, Los Angeles City Hall is also a popular filming location. In 1997's "L.A. Confidential" (one of my favorite films), the police are stationed in City Hall. 2013's "Gangster Squad" had several shots with City Hall in the background, including this one with the tower:
The Emma Roberts-starring "Nancy Drew" movie from 2007 also showcases City Hall:
The 1950s TV show "Adventures of Superman", starring George Reeves, also used City Hall as its Daily Planet building for many episodes. And in current TV appearances, City Hall pops up on the new Shonda Rhimes-produced drama "How to Get Away with Murder":
In the fourth-season episode of "Scandal" called "I'm Just a Bill", mayoral candidate Marcus Walker admits that he was sleeping with the mayor's wife and that the mayor had her killed; that speech (staged by Olivia Pope) took place at City Hall:
It even makes a very brief appearance in 2009's "17 Again" as the court where Mike (Zac Efron) races to find Scarlet (Leslie Mann) and profess his love:
In person, the City Hall is a large and impressive building in downtown Los Angeles, near the Hall of Justice and Hall of Records and the Los Angeles Times building:
I'm a big fan of a lot of things that have filmed at City Hall, so I was excited to take some photos with my friend Alex:
