STORY & PHOTOS
In my opinion, "Nightcrawler" was the most underrated movie of 2014. Creepy, atmospheric, and with an unsettling ring of truth, the film was driven by Jake Gyllenhaal's genius performance and enhanced by a great supporting cast. As soon as I finished the film, I wanted to go to all of the gritty filming locations.
One spot that was seen in the background of a shot, where Lou (Jake Gyllenhaal) is parked waiting for a scene to go capture on video, was Bob's Market:
Bob's Market is probably better known from 2001's "The Fast and the Furious", where it was dressed as Toretto's Market and Cafe:
(Fair warning: the market was remodeled and dressed up for filming; the interior does not look like it appears in "The Fast and the Furious". The exterior, though, is still very recognizable and looks similar.) It's easy to visit IRL, as it really is just a corner market. I'm not sure if it's in the best part of town, so just be careful if you go visit it -- I'd recommend daytime, instead of nighttime like Lou.
