Mary Anne's Streaming Recommendations
Netflix: Gilmore Girls. Since Mary Anne grew up without her mother, she might enjoy the mother-daughter drama in the show, but more than that she would love the coziness of Stars Hollow. (Also, I know she’d be the only other member of #TeamDean with me.)
Hulu: Booksmart. I love picturing 18-year-old Mary Anne fresh off a breakup (again) with Logan, deciding to go a little wild after graduating from Stoneybrook High School. M.A. would watch this movie for the vicarious experience of throwing all caution to the wind.
Disney+: Tangled. Remember when Richard Spier was so strict that Mary Anne had to wear her hair in braided pigtails every single day? Rapunzel can kinda relate. I have a feeling this would be modern Mary Anne’s favorite Disney movie.
HBO: Downton Abbey. A lot is mentioned about Mary Anne’s love for New York City, but doesn’t she give off a super anglophile vibe? (You know she had the Princess Diana Beanie Baby.)
CBS All Access: Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! Mary Anne has always been in love with hunky movie star Cam Geary and her biggest fantasy would be to actually date him. (That fantasy basically came true thanks to Logan Bruno, right? Minus all the glitz and glam.)
Amazon Prime: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. As a follow-up to her Gilmore Girls binge, M.A. might follow Amy Sherman-Palladino to the Manhattan of the 1950s and 60s for some more fast-paced dialogue plus colorful costumes and sets.
