The Town Square and Downtown of Bluebell, AL from "Hart of Dixie"

The Town Square and Downtown of Bluebell, AL from "Hart of Dixie"

LOCATION:

The town square area of Bluebell, AL, the fictional setting for "Hart of Dixie".

ADDRESS:

Warner Brothers Studio
3400 W Riverside Dr
Burbank, CA

STORY & PHOTOS:

A lot of the action on "Hart of Dixie" takes place in Bluebell's town square. The picturesque small-town scenery has also been used for "Gilmore Girls" and "Pretty Little Liars", among other productions.

In episode 102, George and Zoe talk in the town square. You can see the church in the background and the gazebo to the left, in the center of the square.

(The gazebo was a staple on "Gilmore Girls". It gets moved in and out of the town square depending on what's being filmed at any given time. I've managed to snap pics of and with it on a couple of my tours of Warner Brothers.)

In episode 102, "Parades and Pariahs", the Founder's Day Parade goes through the town square - and then crashes when Zoe needs to cause a distraction to help Betty.

Remember the pancake breakfast? That was held in the picturesque town square as well.

The town square takes center stage in episode 108, "Homecoming and Coming Home", with many activities taking place there:

In 109, the band plays on the gazebo in the center of the town square.

It's also where the pirate-themed treasure hunt takes place. The town square looks especially pretty during the holidays when it's all dolled up with Christmasy decorations:

This area has homes and businesses that make occasional appearances on the show. You can see a row of houses behind Zoe and Lavon as they walk toward the gazebo in episode 107 and behind Lemon and George as they sit on a town square bench in episode 109.

We get a good view of the area in "Faith and Infidelity" when Zoe realizes that nobody's out and about because everyone's at church:

You can see the town square and surrounding area with your own eyes on the Warner Brothers Studio Tour (VIP or Deluxe), where it's called "Midwest Town" because it can really stand in for any part of the country or just be a generic location. It's usually a staple of the tour (unless they're using it to film at the time) and it's really cool to walk around there! There's a lot of history there, from "The Music Man" to "The Waltons" to "Gilmore Girls" to now "Hart of Dixie" and "Pretty Little Liars". I highly recommend the tour.

Note: The pilot episode of "Hart of Dixie" was filmed partly in and around Wilmington, NC, so some of the images from the first episode (or that recur through the first season) are actually from thousands of miles away from Warner Brothers:

Wilmington was famously home to "Dawson's Creek" and "One Tree Hill", so it's definitely worth checking out!
