STORY & PHOTOS
“Creek” fans know that, in the show’s first two seasons, Joey Potter’s family owned and operated the Icehouse, a seafood joint overlooking the harbor. (More about that filming location here.) Unfortunately, the Icehouse was burned to the ground at the end of the second season. But leave it to Pacey Witter to resurrect it…
When the show jumps forward five years in the final two episodes, Pacey has rebuilt and reopened the Icehouse, which is really sweet when you think about his love for Joey and her family.
The Icehouse scenes for the final episodes were filmed at what is now Elijah’s on Ann Street in Wilmington, NC. Elijah’s is a big, friendly seafood restaurant located on Wilmington’s beautiful riverwalk. (By friendly, I mean that in addition to good service the staff was also cool with me taking fangirl photos, haha.)
The restaurant has a nice indoor and bar area, as well as a big deck for outdoor seating.
In the episode, we see the core gang arrive one by one at the Icehouse: first Joey, then Dawson, then Jack and Jen. During these scenes we see the deck area and the riverfront entrance on display:
Once inside the restaurant, they share a boozy meal and catch-up session around the barside table:
My husband and I enjoyed our meals and our time on the deck at Elijah’s and recommend it as a lunch or dinner spot while you’re in Wilmington!
