STORY & PHOTOS
In Disney's cheesy but heartfelt sports/family flick "The Game Plan", egomaniac quarterback Joe Kingman (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) meets his precocious 8-year-old daughter Peyton (Madison Pettis) for the first time. Mishaps and mayhem ensue but, of course, everything is wrapped up with a happy ending.
"The Game Plan" is set in Boston, MA, and the filmmakers play that up. Kingman plays for the fictional Boston Rebels football team, and locations throughout Boston were used during the filming of the movie. In what becomes a major scene during the last third of the film, Kingman takes Peyton and her ballet teacher (Roselyn Sanchez) out for lunch to the Barking Crab.
Peyton has a nut allergy, and while they're eating lunch she has an anaphylaxis reaction to some of her food, after which she is rushed to the hospital.
The Barking Crab sits on a lovely piece of real estate in Boston, right on the water at Fort Point Landing. You can recognize it from the roadway with no trouble, due to its circus tent-like roof decor.
The menu includes a variety of seafood and there are daily specials. The Barking Crab is also available for private events. The surrounding area offers a spectacular water view, and is a great place to stop and take a few photos.
