Kimmy and Titus's apartment from "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt"
LOCATION
The Brooklyn basement apartment where Kimmy (Ellie Kemper) moves in with Titus (Tituss Burgess) in the very first episode of "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," and the stoop where landlord Lillian (Carol Kane) frequently sits and makes insane, hilarious comments.
ADDRESS
74 Freeman St.
Brooklyn, NY
Note: this is a private residence. It's okay to take photos from the street, but be sure not to trespass or disturb those who live there!
Netflix's "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," brainchild of Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, is one of the funniest shows in a long time, and it puts a fun and whimsical spin on New York, where former mole woman Kimmy decides to live when she's released from her kidnapper cult leader's bunker. She doesn't have much money and needs an apartment, so she ends up renting a basement room from weirdo Lillian in Brooklyn. Her new roommate? Titus Andromedon. It's not a glamorous apartment - when Jacqueline (Jane Krakowski) sees it for the first time, she asks, "What happened? Did Hurricane Katrina come back?" - but it's home to Kimmy and Titus.
The stoop and apartment show up in basically every episode. The interior is filmed on a soundstage, of course, but the exterior you can find in Brooklyn pretty easily. The actual apartment looks just as it does on the show, even down to the graffiti on the door!
I was in Brooklyn recently, and it was my #1 destination - I took a cab there ASAP and snapped some photos:
"Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" films at Silvercup Studios in Long Island City when it's not shooting on location around New York (the same place where Tina Fey and Jane Krakowski filmed "30 Rock").
